If you're looking for a cozy and family, oriented guest house, this is the place for you. the location is perfect, opposite the Oshiba bus stop and just a short walk from the Hakone, machi pier. the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with traditional Japanese tatami mats and futon beds. the bathrooms are clean and well, maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. You can even order meals, although they may be a bit pricy, as is typical in this area. Plus, if you're lucky, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji from the nearby port.
One downside is that there is only one bathroom in the guest house, which can cause a bit of a queue during peak shower times.

I had a truly authentic Japanese experience at this wonderful old style Japanese style lodging. The host was friendly and spoke English well, making me feel right at home. The location was convenient, just a short walk to the festival, lake, boat ride, and ropeway. The traditional Japanese-style rooms were beautiful and comfortable, giving me a true taste of Japan. I highly recommend this stay.

The staff provided free detergent for laundry and offered ramen on the first day. They also gave electric fans when necessary. The place was clean, had strong wifi, and was not hot even in summer. A vending machine was conveniently located outside.

I recently stayed at a beautiful little Ryokan called Moto-Hakone Guest House for one night. The owner was very friendly and spoke English well. The house was clean, the bed was comfortable and the true Japanese experience with Tatami floors, a Futon bed, and a Yukata provided for sleeping. The surrounding area is perfect, situated near Lake Ashi with easy access to all the sightseeing spots. The bus is also very convenient, with English announcements for each stop. The room was spacious and had a helpful English manual. I had a great stay and highly recommend this hotel.
I totally recommend this hotel.

The staff was incredibly friendly and caring, and they spoke English, which was a huge plus. the location was perfect, just 100 feet from the bus stop and a short 10-minute walk to the tourist spots. Despite all the rooms being full, it felt like we had the entire house to ourselves. the room was clean and had a traditional feel to it. I would definitely go back, especially since the staff offered discounts to local attractions. Cons: No 🚪 lock on arrival but the host immediately fixed it.

The rooms at Moto-Hakone Guest House are incredibly cozy and welcoming. The tatami floor and low table with seating cushions create a traditional and comfortable atmosphere. I loved the traditional futon bedding, it made me feel right at home. The LCD TV was a nice touch too!
Personally, I didn't enjoy the shared bathroom. But hey, that's just my opinion.
